Allormstaður is the biggest forest in Iceland, located 25 km south of Egilsstaðir, less than half hour drive from the airport. In the past it was considered to be seven hours walk and three hours ride on a good horse. Icelanders consider Hallormsstaður an oasis in a land where the wind often blows.
